About Fox Lake Campground of Bemidji

The 2024 camping season for daily campers is from Friday, May 3 to Sunday, September 8. Online reservations open mid-January.

Fox Lake Campground is a family friendly campground known for its casual atmosphere and the guests enjoying the lake. Fox Lake is connected to the Turtle River Chain of Lakes. Kids of all ages can be found relaxing at the beach or taking a kayak, paddle boat, canoe, or standup paddle board out on the water. Boaters enjoy tubing and wake boarding, and fishermen and fisherwomen can be spotted casting their lines into Fox Lake from their boats or heading down the channel to fish on Lake Beltrami.

Fox Lake Campground of Bemidji originally began in 1960 as Hamilton's Fox Lake Campground. Fifteen years later, the Ducharme family purchased the campground and operated it until the fall of 2018. The campground changed ownership in March of 2019 to the Haugen family.

At the 13+ acre campground, you'll find the Campground Store/Office, a Game Room, the Bathroom/Shower House/Laundromat, Fish Cleaning House, playground, sand volleyball, Gaga Ball Pit, tetherball, basketball hoop, pickleball court, forest trailers, and fairy forest. (Campground map)

Haugen family

Mark began camping at Fox Lake Campground with his parents when he was around ten years old. His life was greatly shaped by the many adventures and days spent at the campground.

Mark (and Amanda) attended college at Bemidji State University. In 2004 he began his career with the U of MN Extension. In 2012 he earned his Master's Degree from the U of MN (Twin Cities), and completed his PhD course work in Educational Policy and Leadership in 2017.

Now he enjoys handyman duties, lawn/property care, refinishing projects, making sure our camping guests make the most of their stay, and lending them a hand if they need anything.

Amanda first visited Fox Lake Campground in the summer of 2000 with her then boyfriend Mark. She was raised on a dairy farm and didn't grow up going camping regularly or spending time at a lake. Campground lifestyle was new and exciting to her.  Now, over 20 years later, she gets to embrace life at the lake full time!

She has been a small business owner since 2004, operating Hubbard Studio (portrait photography) in Park Rapids and later on in Becker.

Amanda loves spending time outdoors. She also enjoys decorating, doing yard work, and building/refinishing projects. When the winter arrives you can find her reading, downhill/cross country skiing, ice skating, and taking their daughters sledding.

Jillian and Alix were just infants when they started visiting their grandparents at their seasonal camping spot at Fox Lake Campground.

On hot summer days the girls can be found behind a boat tubing or watersking. They also have fun riding their bikes throughout the campground with their campground friends and cousins, and stopping by the campground store for ice cream cones.

You'll even see them working alongside Mark and Amanda doing site cleanup and working in the campground store.

Jillian enjoys art and playing the alto saxophone, guitar, bass guitar, and learning the trumpet. Alix enjoys 4-H Dog Training, middle school show choir, and playing the guitar and the tenor saxophone.
